Area artists have some great news coming out of Ely Greenstone Public Art! For the 2010 art contest there will be cash prizes in six categories.
The theme chosen for the 2010 contest is: “Images of Ely.”
Although past themes have included Fantastic Fish and Creatures of the Wilderness, sponsors hope to broaden the interest of artists with a change in theme and a change in categories.
Images of Ely could include the past history or present day reflections on the city and the area.
Winners in six categories will receive a $250 prize, sponsored by the Ely Chamber of Commerce and Ely Greenstone. Artists will compete in:
- Painting/Drawing
- Photography
- Sculpture
- Glass
- Pottery/Ceramics
- Textiles
As in the past, entries should not exceed six feet. Multi-media art should be entered in its majority category. All entries become the property of Ely Greenstone and will be auctioned during the Juried Art Show and Sale set for Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Miners Dry building in the Pioneer Mine Historic Complex.
All contributing artists receive 20 percent of the auction sale price to offset some of the cost of their materials.
Entry applications are available now at the Ely Chamber of Commerce, Ely Community Center, Ely Echo and here online. Click here to download an entry form. There is a $10 entry fee to assist with contest expenses.
